McClain - Alexander

Source: Waveland Independent, Nov 9, 1944

Alexander McCLAIN, the youngest son of Morgan and Mary McClain passed away Nov 6, 1944. He was one of a family of 14 children, all of whom have gone to their reward except one, Jacob. Had he lived until the 23rd of this month, he would have been 75 years of age. He enjoyed the distinction afforded to few people, that of being born living his entire life and passing away on the same farm. On April 13, 1893 he was united in marriage to Mary Alexander who passed away July 17, 1934. To this union five children were born, Helen, Dale, Lucile and two babes who died in infancy. He was a life long Democrat and worthily represented this party as Trustee of Greene Township for one term. Alex was an industrious and enterprising farmer, a highly respected citizen and a devoted family man. His home, his children and his grandchildren were his pride and joy, and they in turn were devoted to him. He is survived by 3 children: Helen at home; Dale on a nearby farm and Lucile Bonebrake of Columbus, Indiana; four grandchildren, Maurice and Larry McClain and Dickie and Judy Bonebreak (sic); one aged brother, Jacob; many nieces and nephews and a host of neighbors and friends. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 3 at the home with the Rev. Airhart of New Market preaching the sermon. Burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery - transcribed by kbz
